The Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC, Rev Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has welcomed the suspension of five officials, which includes the Chief Financial Officer, and two Directors which includes the Director for Supply Chain Management.
The officials are suspended due to allegations of financial misconduct that occurred in the run-up to the May 2024 elections.
The suspensions send a strong message in restoring a culture of good governance and consequence management in the department.
