MEC Dube-Ncube provides festive cheer to kids at nelson Mandela Capture Site

Children were brimming with excitement as they played games, received gifts and learned important lessons about the significance of the Capture Site, which is the last place where Madiba was a freeman prior to his capture in 1962. The Children were taken to the world famous sculpture, where MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube gave the little ones a lesson about the significance of the sculpture and the values that Madiba stood for during the kids Christmas party she hosted at Capture Site on 29.12.18

Maphumulo taxi rank officially opened, marking a new chapter in lives of residents

Taxi violence is a thing of the past in Maphulo near Stanger in the north of KwaZulu-Natal. The Chairperson of the Maphumulo Taxi Association, Mr P.W Ngcobo assured the community when he thanked the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube and Transport Community Safety and Liaison MEC Mxolisi Kaunda at the launch of the new taxi rank. The new taxi rank is one of the initiatives of MEC Dube to promote the Local Economic Development through Small-Town Rehabilitation. The rank has market sores, clean toilets, office, bedroom and security have opened job opportunities for the local community. MEC Kaunda also conducted a festive season safety awareness campaign by distributing pamphlets and encouraging the community to observe all the safety measures that are in place. The launch took place at Maphulo Sabuyazi Sports ground on 11.12.18

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube described women as undefeated warriors. The MEC was delivering her keynote address during the women empowerment and breast cancer awareness which was attended by all the women employees within her department. The MEC also dedicated all the awards won by the department to the staff. She said she commends most those who are responsible for making sure that there is a tea, water or the office is clean every day. The event took place at the Olive Convention centre on 23.10.18

KZN Municipalities given a snapshot of future Eskom infrastructure expansion

MEC for Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs received a warm welcome from the community of Mbabazane. The MEC Dube visited as part of the constitution mandate that insures that the Mbabazane community become part of the decisions that involves their municipality. Dube was tasked by the Kwazulu-Natal Premier Dr Zweli Mkhize together with the other members of the KwaZulu-Natal cabinet to inspect service delivery in order to ensure that it is not affected by the ongoing problems in the area. The visit was also part of addressing the community about government interventions to rescue the municipality.The improved electricity , housing, road contruction and agricultural projects were visited.The community memberes were given a chance to share their concerns and to ask questions to the members of government.

KZN municipalities have been given a snapshot of future expansion of Eskom’s electricity infrastructure in the province up until 2024 during the Munimec forum convened by the provincial Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) in Durban today. uThukela residents warned of dangers of run away fires and other natural incidents at summer disaster awareness campaign launch

Fire needs discipline from everybody; this was the warning to the community during the disaster awareness campaign. Firefighters demonstrated the level of training when taking orders during the firefighting demonstrations. Among the lessons learnt were to stay away from the trees during a thunderstorm and to avoid making trips if cautioned about the weather. The awareness was jointly organised by the KwaZulu-Natal department of Cogta, Heath and Treasury in Uthukela on 29.11.18

MEC Dube-Ncube tables explosive forensic report on Mpofana Municipality

Drastic expenditure cuts must happen now to save the Mpofana Municipality from a total shutdown of the electricity by Eskom. This is what the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube said as she scheduled another meeting of the councillors for Saturday,15.09.18. The meeting will decide what has to be cut to save funds for the Eskom debt. The areas that were identified for the budget cuts include non-renewal of handsets contracts, reduction of excessive fleets, management salaries, some entertainment events, unnecessary security personnel and anything that was not critical if compared to the electricity. This was during her meeting with Councillors and a representative from Eskom and the councillors were told that it was the last intervention. The meeting was at the Mpofana Municipal Library on 14.09.18
