MEC Dube-Ncube urges women not to give up fight for their rights

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube celebrating women`s day with more than 500 local women in a special event that was themed “phenomenal women” at the indoor sports complex in Dannhauser.07.08.17   The aim of the event was to reflect back to the women of 1956 in order to set an agenda for the women of today as a result of the ongoing women abuse, inequality, oppression, and discrimination. The big question that was to be answered was “what should be done about un reported women abuse.   MEC Dube-Ncube and Dannhauser Mayor Jabu Phakathi visited exhibition stands to see various products made by the local women. The Mayor said more than 4million is set aside to empower women businesses and the MEC ensured that the women are speedily assisted with business spaces to improve sales and further said that the current women struggle must be about transforming women economically and to ensure that they are treated as equal citizens.Women were also inspired not to look down upon themselves. The MEC said the good work exhibited was a testimony that women are blessed with hands and talent regardless of good education and challenges and all they need is a space to showcase their work.Women were urged to also preach women abuse in all their gatherings including churches to discourages it.

Speech: MEC meeting with poor performing Municipalities

“Stop relegating your responsibilities, delegation is not relegation” - this is a stern warning issued by the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs, Nomusa Dube-Ncube, at an urgent meeting with mayors, councillors and municipal managers of municipalities that have caused KZN to regress from 22 clean municipal audits last year to this year’s 11 in the current municipal audit year 2015/2016. She read the riot act to the poor performing Municipalities. These included uMkhanyakude, uMzinyathi and Amajuba district municipalities and Mooi Mpofana, Inkosi Langalibalele, Msunduzi, Uphongolo, and Big Five Hlabisa local municipalities. The meeting took place in Durban on 13.04.17

MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube Expresses Shock At Untimely Death Of Richmond Deputy Mayor

KZN Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (Cogta) has taken the drastic step of using its constitutional prerogative to dissolve the Nquthu municipal council elected during last year’s local government elections because of its protracted failure to elect office bearers, including a mayor and a speaker, due to political infighting.
