Local government excellence on display as Kokstad achieves universal access to electricity

One of Dr Mandela's dream when he visited Kokstad was to see it electrified and the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube reminded community members as she officially declared a 100% power inclusion in the area. The MEC visited communities who still under the government housing plans to check whether they had likewise have power. The visited households depicted the visit as a blessing in disguise, just before the easter holidays, on the grounds that the MEC additionally helped them with electric apparatuses and groceries. The area is popular known for the wild fires and this promoted a modern technology fire fighting truck that was presented as one of the additional disaster intervention. MEC Dube-Ncube calls on department’s bursary holders and interns to make their mark

Ndabenhle Buthelezi of eMahlabathini is the only survivor as his family was butchered in his presence do death which made him to grow up independent from anyone else without home. He related his story as for how he had surrendered in life until he met the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube who then helped him to study and to have a home. He emotionally joined different bursary holders at Cogta who shared their stories as they they were appreciative to the MEC for the financial studying support and internship opportunity. The MEC explained how some situations go past the departmental spending impediments or jurisdiction, but prompt her as a human-being and a mother to do something` sometime from her pocket. She said she feels agony to simply leave once someone has reacted by saying she is not yet qualifying for any pension grant, yet the sickness she has does not permitting her to work, so she simply eat if a few people gave something over. It was during bursary holders and internship beneficiaries interactive session with MEC at the Senate Chamber, UKZN Westville on 11.04.19

Media Statement on Msunduzi Intervention by Provincial Government

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube addressing the Umsunduzi Municipal Council and the members of the media on the issues that drove the Municipality to the mediation of Section139(1b) of the constitution. Councillors committed to cooperate to ensure that the state of the municipality is reestablished to the worthy way. The MEC said she want action-oriented commitment that will improve the billing system, ensure that those who are responsible for cleaning the City are properly managed and do their work, that the turn around strategy progress report is filed on a monthly basis. The MEC described the intervention not as a first step towards fixing the issues that were affecting the municipality, yet pursues numerous that the Department and other government structures had set up and has incited other ongoing investigations. Different Teams to serve on various sections of the municipality with immediate affect will be led by the Cogta Head Thando Tubane and this was discussed at the council meeting and the media briefing held at the Pietermaritzburg City Hall on 09.04.19

KZN Provincial Government urges caution as more tests are underway to establish cause of intestinal disease in Vryheid

The change of administration after the past local government elections halted the electrification plan. Inkosi Zondo welcomed the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube with mixed feelings as he thanked all the benefits from the current government and shared his concerns for the electricity which has not come to his area. The MEC affirmed that she had guaranteed the power and that her department had begun with the process of providing the electricity which was ceased when the municipality never proceeded with that plan.
