Local government excellence on display as Kokstad achieves universal access to electricity

One of Dr Mandela's dream when he visited Kokstad was to see it electrified and the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube reminded community members as she officially declared a 100% power inclusion in the area. The MEC visited communities who still under the government housing plans to check whether they had likewise have power. MEC Dube-Ncube calls on department’s bursary holders and interns to make their mark

Ndabenhle Buthelezi of eMahlabathini is the only survivor as his family was butchered in his presence do death which made him to grow up independent from anyone else without home. He related his story as for how he had surrendered in life until he met the Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube who then helped him to study and to have a home. He emotionally joined different bursary holders at Cogta who shared their stories as they they were appreciative to the MEC for the financial studying support and internship opportunity. The MEC explained how some situations go past the departmental spending impediments or jurisdiction, but prompt her as a human-being and a mother to do something` sometime from her pocket. She said she feels agony to simply leave once someone has reacted by saying she is not yet qualifying for any pension grant, yet the sickness she has does not permitting her to work, so she simply eat if a few people gave something over. It was during bursary holders and internship beneficiaries interactive session with MEC at the Senate Chamber, UKZN Westville on 11.04.19

Media Statement on Msunduzi Intervention by Provincial Government

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube addressing the Umsunduzi Municipal Council and the members of the media on the issues that drove the Municipality to the mediation of Section139(1b) of the constitution. Councillors committed to cooperate to ensure that the state of the municipality is reestablished to the worthy way. The MEC said she want action-oriented commitment that will improve the billing system, ensure that those who are responsible for cleaning the City are properly managed and do their work, that the turn around strategy progress report is filed on a monthly basis. The MEC described the intervention not as a first step towards fixing the issues that were affecting the municipality, yet pursues numerous that the Department and other government structures had set up and has incited other ongoing investigations. KZN Provincial Government urges caution as more tests are underway to establish cause of intestinal disease in Vryheid

The change of administration after the past local government elections halted the electrification plan. Ground-Breaking Amahlubi Service Delivery Hub Launched By Cogta Mec Dube-Ncube

Residents of Inkosi Langalibelele local municipality will no longer have to travel long distances to access government services. Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube was officially opening a Community Service Centre near Estcourt. The MEC described the structure as an honour to the heroes of AmaHlubi who fought against the oppression of a black South African and also as an affirmation of government to the commitment to improve the dignity of Amakhosi and changing lives of the people. The centre is designed to accommodate Municipality, Inkosi, Councillor and Government service Department offices in one building to ensure a speedy service delivery. Computer training facility is one of the mile stone to address issues of the 4th industrial revolution in the rural areas as proclaimed by the President in his State of the Nation Address this year. The opening was led by the MEC, Inkosi Langalibale of AmaHlubi , Uthukela District and Inkosi Langalibalele Mayor on 02.04.19

Economic growth understanding is a crucial element in the community leadership to provide a strategic participation in a viable available economic opportunities, especially in the rural areas. Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube was enlightening Amakhosi about opportunities and assistance offered by the government to strengthen the Local Economic Development in their ares. Millions of rands are readily available to pay the participation farmers with 5 days, the market is ready to buy the local produce, but some of specified products are not available from the supported communities. The MEC gave Amakhosi many productive participating ideas, which include: rabbit farming, bulk-buying, recycling of animal skin which is slaughtered for various purposes, identifying needs for local Schools, Hospitals and other government departments. Among the services that were outline during the summit; Cogta is providing a guide on how to present projects proposals and to ensure that communities are supported and assisted by Amakhosi who are also entrusted with the identification of the suitable land, based on the required produce. Amakhosi are expected to plough back to their communities all the information from the Rural Local Economic Development Summit. The summits are conducted in all the KwaZulu-Natal Districts Municipalities and Ethekwini leg took place at the Public Works offices in Mayville, Durban on 29.03.19

Launch of KZN Good Green Deeds Clean-Up Campaign leaves parts of Pietermaritzburg CBD clean

Good Green Deeds, a campaign promoting responsible waste management, launched in Umsunduzi Local Municipality. Ministers and KZN MECs; Dr Zweli Mkhize, Nomvula Mokonyane, Barbara Thomson, Andries Nel, MEC Weziwe Thusi, MEC Dr Sibongiseni Dhlomo and Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube conducted a cleaning campaign in Umsunduzi. Multi million rand construction plant from KZN Cogta to assist municipalities was officially unveiled. Community members and workers responsible for cleaning were educated about the business opportunities on waste and cautioned CWP and EPWP to perform their duties diligent to discourage the perception that those employed under these programmes are not working, judging from the cleanliness. MEC Dube-Ncube said it is difficult to relate the issues of increasing hours or pay if the areas serviced are full of dirt. Community were also encouraged to get involved in recycling projects. Dr Mkhize reminded the members of the community and workers that Umsunduzi is the Capital City Of KZN and lamented how embarrassing to the visitors to see it surrounded by stinking garbage. He asked the community to preach importance of keeping the environment clean to others about and ordered that the municipality leadership do a self introspection, because the President or Ministers can not afford to come back to clean. The launch took place at Imbali Township in Umsunduzi and the cleaning happened in Pietermaritzburg CBD on 22.03.19

MEC Dube-Ncube calls for zero tolerance for violation of rights of women and children as thousands observe human rights day in KwaDukuza municipality

Human Rights Day serves as the reminder of the path gone by South Africa and education platform about responsible use of rights as contained in the Bill of Rights. Among the rights there is a right to protest, but destroying property does not only undermines the right of others, who have access to services through that property, but hinders the progress of services delivery and paint a bad picture of the Country to the investors who are very critical in addressing the unemployment and economic growth. Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs MEC Nomusa Dube-Ncube-Ncube addressed members of community after a march against human rights at Ntshawini in KwaDukuza Municipality on 21.03.19 The celebration was as a result of KwaDukuza Council resolution after the area experienced brutal killing of people; one incident involves a women who was buried by her love partner in the house, without her children knowing. A women was burnt to death following allegations of witch craft practices and these precede many other social ills challenges in the area .
