Durban, 9 May 2026 – The KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Disaster Management Centre has dispatched disaster management teams to the scene of a building collapse in Durban. The incident scene remains active.
Disaster management teams, including first aid responders, are working tirelessly to extricate individuals who may be trapped as a result of the incident. To date, four people have been successfully extricated and have received medical attention. Search and rescue operations are continuing for others who may still be trapped. The department wishes all who are affected a speedy recovery.
Further details will be communicated as information becomes available.
Members of the public are advised to remain clear of the affected area in Union Lane, as unnecessary congestion may impede the operations of emergency and rescue personnel.
