MEC THULASIZWE BUTHELEZI EXTENDS DISASTER AWARENESS DRIVE TO NAZARETH BAPTIST CHURCH EBUHLENI

DURBAN, The KwaZulu-Natal Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGTA) MEC Thulasizwe Buthelezi, today conducted an official visit to the Nazareth Baptist Church eBuhleni as part of the department’s ongoing provincial disaster awareness and mitigation campaign.

The visit commenced with a high-level private briefing between MEC Buthelezi and His Holiness Inkosi uNyazi lweZulu to discuss strategic collaboration on community safety, climate resilience, and disaster preparedness within large congregations.

Following the private audience, the MEC addressed hundreds of congregants gathered on the holy mountain, reinforcing the provincial government’s commitment to standing firmly with community structures during times of necessity.

“We will always be right here close to you, working hand-in-hand with you,” said MEC Buthelezi during his address. “We wish you everything of the best right now. May the Lord bless you.”

As a practical intervention aligned with the disaster awareness drive, MEC Buthelezi led the distribution of blankets and essential relief items to church members. This handover forms part of the department’s seasonal response strategy to support vulnerable communities and mitigate the impact of severe weather conditions across the province.

The Department of Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs will continue to roll out these targeted awareness campaigns, partnering with spiritual and traditional leaders to ensure that early warning signs and safety protocols reach all corners of KwaZulu-Natal.
