ULUNDI, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs Rev. Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has welcomed the swift compliance of the Impendle Local Municipality administration following the payout of August salaries within the stipulated 48-hour deadline.
The resolution follows a firm directive issued by MEC Buthelezi on Tuesday, demanding immediate administrative action to safeguard the livelihoods and dignity of municipal workers affected by the non-payment.
Reaffirming the department’s active oversight across all municipalities in the province, MEC Buthelezi emphasized that the welfare of municipal employees is fundamental to institutional stability and effective service delivery
“We stand firmly on the principle that the well-being of municipal employees is non-negotiable. When workers are paid and supported, communities receive the services they deserve. COGTA will continue to maintain a hands-on approach across every municipality in KwaZulu-Natal to ensure accountability, protect workers’ rights, and restore public trust in local governance,” said MEC Buthelezi.
KZN COGTA remains steadfast in its mandate to enforce stability, strong governance, and uninterrupted service delivery across all municipalities in the province.
