Ulundi, 29 April 2025 – Disaster management teams promptly attended to an incident within the Msunduzi Local Municipality following the structural compromise and damage sustained by two residential properties. The event transpired on Sunday, 27 April 2025, at approximately 17h00 in the Nhlazatshe Shayamoya Locality, situated within Ward 11 of the municipality.
Initial reports indicate that a water tanker experienced a loss of power, subsequently colliding with two dwellings.
This collision resulted in severe damage to two houses.
Regrettably, the incident also resulted in two (2) individuals sustaining injuries and two (2) fatalities.
Emergency response services were immediately dispatched to the location to render assistance.
Disaster management teams are currently on-site, providing support and relief measures to the affected families. These measures include the provision of temporary accommodation, essential provisions, and psychosocial support services.
The MEC for Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA), Reverend Thulasizwe Buthelezi, has conveyed his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and extended his wishes for a swift recovery to those who have been injured.
